Tokyo Revengers ‒ Episode 21

Takemichi learning to face confrontation head-on was a key part of his development through the first half of this season, but even that seems to have been forgotten in order to keep him from being too active in this story. https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Edens Zero ‒ Episode 1-2

This seems to be the best-looking adaptation of Mashima's work that we've seen thus far, with bright colors, crunchy sound design, and brief yet slick animation cuts that really adds a sense of weight to some of the action. https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Why Do We Hate 3DCG Anime?

The fact that there are more CG series overall these days also means that there are more opportunities for disappointment. Anime fans are frequently regarded as being “Anti-3D”, but clearly this disdain isn't equally distributed. https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Tokyo Revengers ‒ Episode 20

I've joked before about just how ineffective our hero is in a fight, but this arc's pacing has exacerbated that past “funny, interesting twist on the hotblooded shonen hero” into “aggravating and redundant use of screentime” by now. https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

The Honor Student at Magic High School ‒ Episode 8

Basically, Airi, Shiori, Miyuki, and Eimi are all given jobber matches—i.e., matches against people who serve no other purpose than to get stomped on—in order to showcase their overwhelming prowess. It's the simplest way to make the girls look powerful and get us hyped about seeing them face off against each other. https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Sonny Boy ‒ Episode 6

It seems like every week I wax poetic on the way Sonny Boy uses its already weird conceit to strut into even more complicated conceptualizations, so please trust me when I say that this episode is the wildest one yet. https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Tokyo Revengers ‒ Episode 19

Without further ado, it's time for the long-awaited Bloody Halloween. After weeks of questionably paced buildup, it's nice to have essentially 20 minutes of teenagers beating the snot (among other things) out of each other. https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Kageki Shoujo!! ‒ Episode 7

“The Hanamichi and the Silver Bridge,” heralds summer vacation, and also, an intensely Ai and Sarasa-centic episode that feels like a nice break between episode 6's fairly serious growth arc and whatever episode 8 will bring. https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Fena: Pirate Princess ‒ Episodes 1-2

Watching these two episodes is like reading a particularly good YA pirate novel. It's got everything: a heroine who is no one's damsel in distress, a hero who's gone from childhood friend to broody tsundere ass, a dog, a mysterious treasure, ninjas, and an anachronistic steam vessel to find said heroine's lost family legacy. What more could you ask for? https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Sensor GN

Sensor is easily one of the strangest Junji Ito yarns to date, combining Christian mythos, Lovecraftian beings, and a Heaven's Gate-style cult. https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

FANGS GN 1

FANGS is a story that is most likely going to have the most appeal for readers who enjoy both vampires and BL, and it will probably still have decent appeal for plain old BL fans. https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

My Hero Academia ‒ Episode 107

With the Todoroki family drama concluded (for now, anyway) it's at last time for MHA to dive back into the fun, super-powered fantasy of...confronting intense personal trauma and half a lifetime's worth of survivor's guilt. Well then. https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

BEASTARS Season 2 ‒ Episodes 7-8

Given how much weight Tem's death has put upon the students of Cherryton, and how the symbolic meaning of the murder is also a millstone that Legoshi's happy to wear around his neck, there's bound to be all sorts of twists and turns to go before we uncover the culprit. https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

To Your Eternity ‒ Episode 17

Another week, and another episode of To Your Eternity gone by where I am wishing so damned hard that we could all wake up in the alternate universe where the anime was able to have the cinema-level production values it so clearly deserves. https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
